*Warren Buffet*: Employees take responsibility, does not interfere in company
*Paul Allen*: Left Microsoft when it was becoming more authoritarian
AUTHORITATIVE LEADERSHIP
More emphasis on a “follow me” approach, hands-on
Chart a course and encourage those around them to follow.
Relies heavily on getting to know each member of a team
Leaders must exercise caution not to micromanage

*Bill Gates*: Not adaptive to communication and employee engagement. Asks team challenging questions and doesn't stop until satisfied. Strong clarity of thought and execution.
*Howard Schultz*: Power, loyalty, staff training, consistency, employee motivation.
PARTICIPATIVE LEADERSHIP
Listen to their employees and involve them in decision-making process.
Leaders are inclusive, utilize good communication skills and crucially, are able to share power/responsibility.
Spontaneous, open and candid communication are often associated with a participative leadership style.
Often favored as it helps to build trust with employees.
PARTICIPATIVE LEADERS
Examples of participative leaders include facilitators, social workers, arbitrators and group therapists.
