Simile defined.
Similie, is a type of figurative language. It describes something while making a comparison to something else using the words like or as.
Simile examples. Look at the picture in the slide, and complete the sentence; "My heart is like an open..... "
As slow as a sloth.
As busy as a bee.
As innocent as a lamb.
As proud as a peacock.
Our metaphors hit the nail on the head.
Hit the nail on the head: to get something exactly right.
Metaphors defined.
A figure of speech (a phrase used in a non literal sense) directly referring to one thing by mentioning another.
He's as cold as ice.
Metaphor examples. "He is a shining star". Meaning he stands out in some way.
The snow is a white blanket. The snow covers everything.
She is an early bird. A person who arrives or acts earlier than the expected time.
I feel under the weather. I'm feeling sick.
