They connect the result of something with its reason.
She got the promotion over the other candidates, because she knew the system best.

BECAUSE is used most often.
I had to take the bus to work because it was raining.
BECAUSE focuses more on the reason.
I ordered the ice cream, because they had my favourite flavour.
You can use because at the beginning or in the middle of a sentence, but it is more common to use it in the middle.

You can also use "because" to answer a question.
-Why do you always wear trainers?
-Because my feet hurt if I wear smart shoes.
AS and SINCE are more formal.
AS and SINCE focus more on the result of the statement.
They were looking for a new place to live as they were unhappy with the location of their first apartment.
We will not go since we were not invited.
As I have an appointment this afternoon, I won’t be available to work.
We do not use AS or SINCE in questions where we propose a reason?
Are you hungry because you didn't have lunch?
NEVER: Are you hungry as you didn't have lunch?
“Since I ate an apple earlier, I’m not hungry now.”
“Because I ate an apple earlier, I’m not hungry now.”
